Game Dev Journal 02

Happy Holidays! Although, if it we up to me, I would work straight through to the new year. However, commitments to friends, family, and fiancé would see me elsewhere.

Now I'm back though and already getting back into the swing of things.

Other good news, we have a video of the prototype here! Not too much longer until we have a demo ready!

Below are some of the assets I finished including some sprites and icons.

Game Dev Journal -01

Recently I took up a project as an artist for a game. I'm already a few months into the project and have accumulated a decent horde of various assets as seen below.

This is not even a fraction of the collection I've been steadily accumulating. Altogether I think I've got at least 200-300 individual sprites, tilemaps, and animations. The look and feel of the game is "a bloody version of power rangers."

Despite this massive undertaking and the fact that it's a far-cry form the style I normally work in, I am having an absolute blast working on this project!

So, for my own records (and anyone interested in following along) I'll be posting my development journals once a week for the foreseeable future. I hope you enjoy the work and with any luck we'll have a demo sometime in the future for anyone to try out.

Thank you for your time, and see you next week!

Scratch and Sniff with Ratchet and Dingo

College can be pretty rough, especially art school. With the deadlines, lack of sleep, empty stomachs, and even emptier wallets, everyone needs some way to vent the stress. In my case I could've taken up exercise, perhaps read some good books, or even picked up my violin once in a while.

Instead, my roommate and I made a comic about a rat and a horse getting high off of various inhalants...

Part of me wishes I was joking.

In all honesty though it's funny as hell and a great way to cut loose as far as art and comics go. So if you like zany irreverent comics (a la Ren and Stimpy) it's definitely worth your time. See the finished work here! (I draw/ink, he colors and writes)

Here's a barbarian rat with nipple piercings for your troubles!
